Sound/ vibration is one of the oldest forms of healing known to man.
Chanting, singing, music is often used to create an uplifting atmosphere, a creative flow..vibrations and frequency.
Every culture in the world has used sound for healing and transformation.
In old Greek culture, music instruments were used as therapy as they were believed to help aid digestion, induce sleep and support mental disturbances and stress.
Egyptian and Indian cultures used, and still use; chanting, singing and music to aid the sick.
In modern times, there have been many studies of the effect of sound on the body. There have been observations reduced secretion of cortisol (stress hormone) when exposed to drumming or instrumental music for as little as 15 minutes.
As health modalities become more and more integrative, we are seeing an increasing acknowledgment of the use of sound and vibration as a healing and supportive modality.
What should I expect during a Sound Bath?
The term “Sound Bath” essentially describes a calming environment, where a range of sound vibrations is introduced, using different instruments such as metal or crystal bowls, tuning forks, chimes, gongs, and /or drums.
The practitioner guides you to a a simple meditation to bring attention to the body, and allow you to let go of stress, easing you into a relaxed state.
You are positioned in a comfort lying on the floor, using pillows, mat and blankets.
Many of these instruments are made with sacred intention, and are tuned to emit healing frequencies that your body recognises, inducing peace and restfulness.
During the sound bath experience, your nervous system and fluids of the body respond to the vibrations of these attuned instruments, initiating a calming effect as your body as a whole is brought into harmonious balance.

Vibrational effects of sound
When we are in a state of stress, the heart creates rythym/ vibration beating faster.
If you have experienced chest palpitations or flutters during times of stress, you will relate to this sensation.
When we are in a state of relaxation, our heart creates a slower rhythm; regulating our physical body.
The work of Dr Emoto revolutionised the idea that our thoughts, words and intentions affect the vibration of water.
These studies were widely criticised, but have played an important role in bridging science with nature; opening us to new perspectives and concepts.

The human body is made up of 70-80% liquid, which transmits sound/ vibration very well.
Everything has a sound and a vibration even though we are not always hearing it.
The velocity (frequency) of movement determines specific sound.
The 100 trillion cells in our body, water and blood give off a sound that is at a frequency that most of us cannot hear.
Our thoughts and words emit vibration and frequency :)
Everything in the universe vibrates; the earth, the moon, the planets and stars.
